So back in Hong Kong, haven't done very much actually, just getting back to routine of adjusting to life here. Really nothing special I guess...

One thing I decided to do was to quick smoking. This coming Saturday, which is tomorrow will be 7th week. So I'm almost there... I'm doing this 12 weeks medicated course. and I'm on the 8th week... so one more month to go. In case you are wondering what medication I'm taking, the medication is called Champix. In the states it's called Chantix, it's working for me and I have been a regular smoker for 15 years or so. Then again, quitting smoking is a very personal thing, you will have to want to quit yourself in order for it to work. If you don't want to quit, then don't this medication would help at all...

So I'm looking for work, it's such a painful process that I hate, and it doesn't seem to go the way I want it, however we are not in control of it. However I do think I'm beginning to be unemployable, which sucks. I don't know... Have to ride my luck and see what happens, anyone have any good leads for graphic design please send them my way!!!

Oh I finally gotten around to do my online portfolio, now I have a good portion of my work online which I'm quite happy with, easy for others to see now. Please go check out when you have time, here is the link.

The year of 2009 and a little bit of 2008

Ok, 2010 is just a day away, I'm sitting in my studio apartment, everything is packed. I know my last blog entry was the end of September, so what has been happening? Well I've finished my final project and have passed it smoothly.

As the year is coming to an end, it's time for reflection. I really can't complain about these two years, from getting my scholarship to becoming a Chevening and Hutchison Scholar to passing my MA in Graphic Design at LCC with a distinction. There isn't much I could and will complain. Sure there have been struggles and doubts at times and there were ups and downs. Truth to it all, I can say that I can remember more ups and downs, which is a always a good thing.

The past year living in London has been a blast for me, and doing it with Joie is a blessing I can never forget, and I thank God that he gave me a chance to do it.

I have met many friends here, my classmates and peers, which have become my extended family. The best thing of it all, they all hail from different parts of the world which makes this extended family even more special. I can honestly say having these brothers and sisters come from parts of the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Columbia, Brazil, Ireland, Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, Spain, Italy, etc... not to mention friends who are from London themselves. We have all grown and interacted together for a year and I hope this will continue even though we will be headed to different places. This experience was so unique and special to me, and will definitely cherish every memory of it. It would have not been the same without them, I remember so much laughter and jokes we shared and ,in class, the constant amusement we give each other, for better or worse both positives and negatives. Just loved the whole experience.

So now, what do I look forward to? What are my plans? This I do not know yet, which is scary and exciting at the same moment. For the first time ,in a long time, there are no clear directions or goals to achieve and will discover it as the new year rolls along. I'm sad and hopeful at the same time that this experience is coming to an end as I'm quite excited to see what the future brings.

I'm just crossing my fingers that 2010 will continue to be as good to me as 2008 and 2009 have been to me.

To the many friends that I have met here in London, you all will forever have a special place in my heart. I will never forget you all, and will treasure the laughters we all shared. I thank you for sharing a year of your life with me.

To Joie, honey, it's time to take a new journey and move on, and I feel safe, because I know you will be there with me to share this new adventure of the future.

So 2010!!!! Bring it on!!! Let's rock!!!!

2009, thank you for the memories, I'm going to miss you!!! It's been a great ride, it's been a great year!

Working hard...

Haven't been blogging for a long while, been busy I guess. Doing research, and now hot in the middle of doing my final project. The year is certainly coming to an end, and it's the end now, that I appreciate London a little bit more. Maybe I'm more used to it now, or it has kinda grown on me. Oh well... Will try to enjoy every minute of it!

Well they say it's rare, but the screen on mbp just had a little malfunction and they are going to replace the whole screen for me. Glad it's not going to cost me anything, but the wait is 7-14 days... Hope I get it back soon!

It will be sad day tomorrow, as I will be handing in my Macbook Pro in for repairs. The screen is not functioning properly. Going to miss it... Oh well... No computer for 1 week is ok I guess... Just glad it's still under warranty, which reminds me when I get it back I have to extend the warranty.

Jo is having fun on the other hand. Working in her placement for GQ magazine here in London. Hope she has another great week coming up!

As for me, just reading and starting my project formulating different possiblities I can do with my final project. Coming to think about it, it's 3 months until now. Oh... seems like a long time, but not really. Have to get a move on!

There were little problems with the theme I was using couldn't add any new gadgets with the old one, strange. Anyway... Switched to this theme... I kinda like it, I like minimal themes, hope you all like it.

It's been a while since I've last had a new blog entry, been very busy with school work and all. I have completed my unit 2 work, and so it's 2 down and 1 more to go. Yes just one more unit, but this would be the hardest and most challenging, as this is the final project. I've started to work today, and created this survey to send out tomorrow. Hopefully I can work at a steady pace.

As for other things, hmm... If my school is coming to an end in a couple of months, that means I have to start thinking on my next move. Oh... Back to the real world and working again. Not sure really sure where I'll be or what I'll end up doing. This uncertainty is quite scary. Oh well, can't think about that right now, have to worry about graduating first!

My week hasn't finished yet, and I already have a new brief that I need to do start working on!!! My God, it's not going to stop!!!! My one day vacation is finally over and I'm back to working mode in a way... Thinking of things to do, and I'm starting all over again... 3 weeks until next critique session... Man this course is killing me!!!

I went to the London Graphic Centre today, they sell all sorts of design materials. Just my kind of store. Why doesn't Hong Kong have a store like this... Then again, it wouldn't be able to survive! Oh well... From now on I will shop from here, to get my supplies!!! Yeah!!!

Tough couple of weeks

I'm glad this week is over. Had my first submission this last Tuesday, well yesterday. Finished everything and I was quite happy. Had so much to do. Resting today, but tomorrow morning there is already another briefing for unit 2!!! Arrgghh... not too much rest... Will have to soldier on... One down... Two more submissions to go!!!

I went with Jo, to the Design Museum today, it's just like 10 mins away from school by bus, which is really good... On show right now is Hussein Chalayan and the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year... Quite interesting, I wonder what's the next exhibition.

I watched the latest episode of Diggnation last night, and they were saying, google is now maping underwater maps... Yes... This morning they are saying they are mapping Mars!!! What's next???

For my MAGD class, we had a full 2 day type workshop, worked with our hands, cutting, enlarging, scaling fonts, pasting them up and putting them back together for a poster. Had great fun doing it!!! One of my favorite classes!!!! This is what I came up with for those 2 days... Something a little different from what I usually do... Learning much here at LCC!!!

Dad came to London, on a business trip, and he spend 9 days here in London. It was really good to see him. We shared many dinners and went to see 3 musicals together with Jo of course. We went to see Zorro, Dirty Dancing and Wicked!!! Wicked was awesome, a must see I think. Didn't really enjoy Dirty Dancing at all... Thought it was trying to hard to stay true to the movie, but that in itself made the musical very fragmented and was neither here nor there for me. We also went to see The International which was ok. Before dad came, Jo and I went with some friends to go watch Avenue Q which was great fun for me, but Jo didn't really like it!!!

School has been really kicking in, had my final crit for the semester and it was good, now I have a clear direction and now it's just producing stuff to hand in for April 21 which isn't too far down the road, so have to continue to work hard!!! Next week I have a group presentation on the subject, "Sponsorships of brands in public spaces." It's going to be fun, we are going to mini skit about it, will tell you all more when I finish it next Thursday, it's a work in progress right now. The following week, I will have a week of elective classes, I'm doing type and design, which should be really fun!!! Looking forward to that!!! Arrrgghhh... 2 projects 2 papers and a elective project to hand in on April 21st... There is so much to do!!!

I know I haven't been keeping up with my blogging here in London. School is really busy, and things are starting to heat up. I'm dealing with the cold better, and getting to used London more.

Getting to used to London doesn't mean I like it more though... LOL. There are just so many little silly things I have found in London which irratates me. Oh well that is a long story. I will write some of them when I have time.

I'm really swamped with school work, I hope I'm progressing in the right direction. Right now I'm really focus on finding some meaning out of all my experiments and really trying to find a question so I can really start producing some work for my critique on March 6th... Wow, that's not a lot time... I must work harder and faster... Have to keep it together!

So school has really started and I am starting to get back into the design groove and all that. Also trying to finish 2 freelances at the same time... Keeps me sane I like it. The first design brief is quite interesting, the brief is actually quite open, and I can do and explore anything with just circles which is cool... So right now I'm looking into anything circle and I'm making things with circles in my mind...

Big snow storm today, but should be ok tomorrow. For some reason is was really cold today, even with the snow... Should be warmer while it's snowing, but it's not... Now the snow is melting I think, now it's going to get really cold. Lol... Oh well will upload a photo when I get a chance.

First week at LCC

Ok... so I had just finished my first week in LCC... The first week is ok... Mainly introduction to the school and the course, so there is nothing really exciting going on. I have met my tutors and they are great. Next week will be the first "real" week of school. So I guess the pain starts next week... hehehehehe... My back feels much better, but now my knee is killing me... I don't even know why, I didn't do anything to it... Just on Monday when I went to school it started hurting for some reason. Arrgghh... It's been a week and it's still hurting. Hope staying at home the whole day will give it a rest and hopefully by tomrrow it is better.

This week, I went to a show at the Satchi Gallery, they had contemporary Chinese Art there, in line with Chinese New Year. It was ok, with many familiar works by the top artists in China. Also went to a grad show of BA Illustration of LCC. The place they had it in was awesome, in a basement of a church which is no longer in use I think.

So that was my first week, nothing to really write about, oh... in case you wondering, Cookham was ok... Relaxing... The host couple there was gracious and I really like them. Will try to stay in touch with them.

Getting used to London

Ok, so I'm getting used to the cold here in London. It's been really cold... But I'm getting used it. Still hard, but it's not as painful as last week. My back is feeling better so I'm happy about that. Haven't really done much, just getting into the mind set of going to school. Tomorrow I'm going to see Stomp with Jo, she hasn't seen it and she's doing a project which I think this musical will give her some inspiration. I really want to go see it again. Friday, Jo and I will be going to Cookham and will be staying with a host family, it's near Windsor Castle, so we'll see what happens there, will stay there for the weekend and be back in London on Sunday. Next Monday is school... Ohhh... So excited but a little bit scarry at the same time, haven't really been a student for so long, so I'm sure it will be a refreshing experience.

Living next to a landmark!

I didn't know this until yesterday, but Jo and I are living behind a landmark. Turns out we live behind Abbey Studios... In case you don't know why that is important, it's where the Beatles use to record their albums. Yes "The Beatles". I'm not kidding. The album cover, "Abbey Road" was also shot right outside the studio, which is right behind us. Very cool indeed!!! Jo and I will shoot some pictures of that road now, when we have time, and of course we will be pretending we are the beatles too... We will need some photographic and photoshop magic of course. Still it's cool to be living next to history!!!!

Ok... It's been a week for me now in London, and I've settled into our new apt alright. As I have begun to settle down and getting used to the cold weather here, I've pulled my back again... There is much pain, and worse there are no doctors like in Hong Kong I can go to. Arrrgggghhhh... The heat was screwed for a while and thankfully today it's back to normal, so there is regular heat on a regular basis now.

With each week, like clock work almost we have another problem, lol... It seems our door bell doesn't really work, and we have already missed a package twice... Arrgghhh... now we have to figure this one out. Wish me luck!

Ok... So the big move was finally complete, I'm pretty much all moved in, and settling down once again, there are still a couple of issues here and there, but all and all... it's all good right now. Went to see a musical already, it was an early birthday present from Jo. Went to see Lost and Found Orchestra, for more info on that head on to my tumblr site here.

Had a blast on Christmas eve with my friends from Chevening, will link photos as Vanessa uploads them to facebook.

The best part of being in London was that I get to spend everyday with Jo, we've been apart for quite some time now, but now everything is all good. I'm really in a happy place right now.

Christmas day is today... Jo cooked a really nice Christmas dinner, with turkey, ham and the works... It was really good, we had lobster too! Excellent day!

Well it's going to be a busy 2 weeks. I'm leaving on the 20th to London, so I'm busy finalizing everything so I can get the hell out of Hong Kong. It's no small task... Now I know how many things goes on... I didn't realize it before, but there are so many things in life that are connected to you. Moving to another country is no small feat. I would love to just pick up and go!!!! However there are many things to deal with.

I'm sure in one point of your life, you will renovate your home. It's usually before you move in, but damn... The people renovating underneath me is so loud, I can't talk even talk on the phone! Is there a law as to how loud they can be? Are there no ways to reduce the noise pollution that these constructions give out? I mean, come on... We can put a man on the moon, but we can't figure out a way to knock down a wall, with less noise. I'm sitting in my living room now and there are times I believe they are actually renovating my house!!! They say it will last until tomorrow!!! Well I hope the weekend comes sooner!!!

Well installed iblogger for iPhone. Just trying out right now, setup with blogger was really easy, just type your email and password and it automatically setup everything! Pretty cool so far. Tagging is simple too. A great little gem of software for the iPhone.

Didn't like the favicon that was provided with the theme I was using. No disrespect but just wanted to my own little favicon... So I went ahead and uploaded a new one and changed the html coding... nono... I know what you are thinking Chris knows how to code in HTML??? No I don't know... I just uploaded to a website it generates the html code and I just copy and paste it to the custom html window in blogger... Yes very simple... Hmm... Should I change my favicon often???

Very powerful, with the new ugraded intel core duo processors, and more over the new NVIIDIA chipset, both the integrated 9400 and the 9600M GT inside this monster going to rock. Last night, I had my first critique session for my publication 2 class. It went well I think and I think the students did pretty good. I think most had learn more, and applying the grid system I think a lot of them had upgraded their skill set. So I'm quite pleased about that... Quite happy...

Changing times, and coming to grips with it.

Today someone told me about their unhappiness and it's due to changes of their lives. I totally understand it, it's totally natural that anyone would feel uncomfortable with change, right? Then I got another email, that really put it into perspective, as I'm leaving to London in December I'm starting to hand over some stuff that I have built here in Hong Kong. One thing is my teaching stuff at the Hong Kong Art School. My course leader says that the new person that is taking over my classes wants to talk to me and see how things are, and I guess, what my advice would be. As much as I like to share it, there is a part of me, that knows I'm going to miss it. Moving is not really a big problem for me, but there is a part of me that doesn't want to say goodbye. However, I should be more excited, cause I'm moving to a new city, having a new life, I don't know what will happen in the future, but that's the exciting part right? If I don't let go of the past, how would I know if there are anything better out there, right?

I know I'm contradicting myself, I want to go, it's exciting, it's scary too, maybe I'm just too comfortable here in Hong Kong. Maybe that's what I need. I need to live on the edge again, jump start my life, who knows, this crossroads that I'm taking might be a defining moment, that I would treasure. That would change my whole direction. Let's just hope it's a better direction. Pray for me everyone!!! Or keep your fingers crossed, either way will do! Thanks.

Feeling lazy

Jo has gone back to London, and I'm alone again, and it's not like first time, but still not really used to it, but hey at least she cooked a lot of food for me, so in a way, she's still here...

Graduation Ceremony

Finally I went through the graduation ceremony of my MFA from RMIT. Many peeps don't know what is RMIT, so I'll spell it out here. RMIT=Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. .

It almost seems now I've completed another chapter in life. Naturally, I'm thinking to myself, what's next. I mean, eventhough the graudation was yesterday, on the 5th of Sept 2008. I actually finished the whole thing in Feburary. So I've been in search of what is next.

You know me... before I actually finished this Masters I was already accepted to another Masters program. This time, it's LCC, London College of Communication. For more info go here. In case you are wondering, it's part of UAL. I didn't actually have any money saved up to go though... So that's a challenge, but luckily I am one of this year's Chevening and Hutchison Scholar. They are paying for everything, so I'm going to London for the whole year!!!!

So that's what's next for me, I'm winding down things here in Hong Kong. Selling off all my computers soon. Renting out my apartement. Finishing up my teaching for this sememster, finishing all graphic and photographic jobs before December. Very soon it's bye bye Hong Kong. Hello London!!!

The Mummy 3

Saw this movie 2 days ago... Didn't really like it. I don't know why... Just think the storyline was not as good as the other two Mummy movies. I'm a fan, but this 3rd installment just didn't for me. It's like they ran out of things to write about to extend this franchise. Plus I don't like Maria Bello in this film, she just wasn't as good as Rachel Weiz... Wasn't very entertained. If you all haven't watched it, my advice is to wait for it to come out on dvd. Better yet, wait for it to come on HBO or something like that.

I've finally figured out how I'm going to keep both Tumblr and Blogger blogs... I'm going to keep my Tumblr blog posts about design and art related stuff that I've found on the web... My blogger site will be random stuff of my life, that is not about design. Now... I have to figure out more in detail about what other stuff I'm going to keep in my personal blog that I have hosted on my .mac site.

Went to watch Hellboy over the weekend. It was excellent. Loved the visual art directions of Guillermo del Toro. Personally I thought this sequal, visually was better the first. A must see movie... Even if you are not a Hellboy fan!!!

Loving what scribefire does right now... I can upload through the api of blogger, and I can resize it... Just one thing though, you can't really upload the picture to picasa and generate a thumbnail to blogger, so if the user wants to click on the picture for the bigger size they are out of luck. What ever you size you see on the blog is the biggest you can get it... Which is a little pity, hope this this feature gets added soon...

There is updated on marsedit... a popular desktop client blogging app... I hope this version will finally answer my prayers!!!! It's almost there, just one more function about image uploading, like auto resizing and generating thumbnails, and this marsedit program will be the bomb... Hope the wait isn't much longer!

You know... I've waiting for a good desktop blog client, so I can blog the way I want to... don't ask me why, I just have this particualr way I want to do it. I like to use ecto... As of right now, the version is not done yet, hence it doesn't really upload images... Which is a bumper... cause I would really love to blog with pictures... I know, I know... you can blog uploading images to blogger... but for some reason I just don't like to upload it with my web browser... Flock, which is great kinda serves my needs... but then again... they have to upload it to my photobucket account and then link it on my blog page, which is really wierd!!!! Arrrggghhh.. Hate this.

My First Blog

Today I finally get to do my first blog, had some problems in the beginning, figuring out the software, but finally I have it going. Well... I hope to keep this blog updated quite frequently as this blog will serve for my creative thoughts, inspirations and directions. To mark this event of my first blog I'm also going to attach my first art show ever. Totally a new experience for me, for I have never really put up my own work for a show.
